Introducing or I should say re-introducing Cindy Oji! Cindy has been a part of NorCal SC since 2005. She has been both a client and a coach and we are happy to announce that she has joined our NorCal Team once again. Welcome home Cindy! Please enjoy this little Q and A to learn a little bit more out Cindy.
How/when were you first introduced to NorCal SC?
Through my brother Jeff back in 2005. I loved the community and gym instantly became my Chico family.
When did you start working for NorCal SC? And what brings you back?
Just a few months after I started training at NorCal SC, Robb and Nicki recognized my passion for fitness and a healthy lifestyle. I got my certifications and the rest is history.
What strengths and passions do you bring with you to NorCal?
Strengths: I have been a part of the community since 2005 and coached by the one and only Robb Wolf! I have also worked with some great coaches at CrossFit San Francisco and CrossFit East Sac when I wasn’t residing in Chico.
Proper form and technique are my key concerns while coaching.
I think it’s important to not only focus on exercise and nutrition but other lifestyle factors as well. Having a good community of people you surround yourself with is just as important to reaching your goals in and out of the gym.
What is your favorite Lift/workout?
The Dead lift is my favorite lift. Picking something almost double your body weight off the ground is an amazing feeling!!!
I have always wanted to…
be a race car driver…I have a need, a need for speed!
One word people use to describe you?
What activities do you enjoy outside the gym?
I love walking my dog Hoshi (Japanese for Star) in the park or even better with friends so we can catch up while we get some fresh air. I enjoy taking trips out of town often to meet up with family/friends for a good meal at a new restaurant or to catch a Giants game. Cooking is also a passion of mine, so I spend a lot of time in the kitchen trying new recipes and creating my own.
I’m up for anything active & fun, whether it be bowling, playing Just Dance with my nieces or taking a pilates or yoga class.
What are 3 things you can always find in your fridge?
Lots of hot sauce/salsas, some kind of fermented food, and veggies.
Favorite go to meal?
Pan fried Tilapia over sauteed greens and sweet potato
Favorite place to eat out when you do go out?
In town – Leon’s Bistro…usually a fish dish and a glass of wine
Out of town – Ruth’s Chris’ Steakhouse: Petit filet, steamed broccoli and a glass of Malbec
