Paleo Magazine

A couple of weeks ago I was at Fragoso Chiropractic waiting for my appointment with Dr. John when he told me to check out the “Paleo Magazine” on his table.  He said that Sarah, his wife, was going to be in the next issue.  I had time to flip through a few pages before heading back for my treatment, but those few pages were enough to convince me to go home and subscribe to the magazine.  So I did!

My first issue came in the mail this week and I was so excited to read through it.  As I was reading it (cover to cover), I was full of smiles as I was seeing our very own Robb Wolf and Sarah Fragoso smiling back at me…not to mention TONS of great articles, health info, cooking tips, food insight, paleo references, etc.

I strongly encourage you to go to www.paleomagonline.com and subscribe today.  For a teaser of what you’re going to be investing in, here’s a bit on info I learned from this issue.

Cherries are in season right now (they are all over the local farmer’s markets) and are like candy they are so good.  Paleo Magazine taught me that cherries have been shown to provide potential health benefits against cancer, aging, diabetes, and neurological diseases due to the powerful antioxidant, anthocyanin.  They also have shown to decrease inflammatory conditions (arthritic inflammation, heart disease, and cancer).  The most surprising fact about cherries to me was that they also have shown to block pain like NSAIDs, but without the nasty side-effects.  The article then gave a tip on cooking burgers.  Research shows that subbing 11.5% of your burger with ground cherries reduces the formation of HCAs (heterocyclic amines) by 90%!!
