CrossFit Pumpkin Patch

Many of you know that on Kayden’s 1st birthday we took him to TJ Farms to check out all the cool animals and, of course, get a pumpkin.
We had no idea that CrossFit would play a role in our pumpkin hunt. I was on a mission to get a larger pumpkin, so we set out to do just that! There were green pumpkins, orange pumpkins, and the exotic green and orange striped pumpkins. I have to give credit to Shawn for finding the “exotic” pumpkin for the Gower Family. After cutting the pumpkin from the vine Shawn used incredible technique to Dead Lift the pumpkin (which by the way is deceivingly heavy) and carry it back to our cart. Little did we know that TJ Farms was having a “heaviest pumpkin contest”. The person who finds and buys the heaviest pumpkin wins a bike. Last year’s heaviest pumpkin was 54 pounds and our pumpkin weighed in at a whopping 69 pounds. To give you a good idea of this weight and shape in the gym...next time you go to load your weight on a bar, stack a 25 lb. plate on a 45 lb. plate on top of each other and try to dead lift it.
On Saturday we got word that our pumpkin was the heaviest one of the year and Kayden won a really cool bike from Pullins Cyclery. The bike was just a little big for our little guy, so the nice men at Pullins let us trade it in and pay the difference for the Co-Pilot trailer we had been eyeing. Just another example of what a wonderful community we have here in Chico and how our training at CrossFit NorCal trains us to be fit for life.

That is such a great story. Grats guys, (and gal).
WOW! Look at the size of Kaydens.......... pumpkin.
That’s a huge pumpkin. I like Shawns comment. Was that Dad’s idea? Lol. We went there a couple weeks ago and I fed the horse. Fun, fun!!!
Shawn - I’m sure there are laws against children posing with pumpkins like that!
Um...wow!
What can I say..Kayden loves pumpkins! He even helped put the seeds that dad was taking out of the pumpkin...back in the pumpkin. He is just so helpful.
Christina...that horse was pretty cool.
thanks for the posts guys!
That is so awsome! I’m sure it won’t be long until Kayden is lifting those heavy pumpkins. I’ve seen his delts!
Kayden sure looks like he enjoyed himself! That’s one of the coolest pumpkins i’ve seen...!
Glad I’m not the only one that thought what I thought! LOL
Nice pumpkin. :-D
How wonderful to win the bike, and by the way cool stem on your pumpkin.
Thanks! The biggest pumkin stem I have ever seen for sure!
Where is the picture of the carved pumpkin? We must see the final product.
