You all know that we are in the business of training folks. Our clients and athletes are interested in achieving all sorts of goals, be they aesthetics oriented: like weight loss and body composition, performance oriented: a faster 5K time or qualifying for the CrossFit games, or health oriented: like improved blood lipids and increased bone density.
Our gym is filled with a beautiful cross section of good, solid, hardworking folks. Moms, dads, kids, MMA fighters, swimmers, firefighters, teachers, realtors and everyone’s favorite, lawyers! ☺
And guess what? Drum roll please…We also train musicians! (pun intended. sorry, I couldn’t resist!)
I’d like to formally introduce you all to a new (returning) addition to our NorCal family: Lou Maraschiello, aka Lou Mars.
Lou will be attempting the Guinness Book of World Records TM drumming marathon! The current record is set at 5 days (120 hours!) of drumming. Lou will be seeking to beat that record by several hours, if not a full day! Talk about endurance, stamina and metal toughness! CrossFit NorCal training here we come! Our training staff will have him in top shape prior to the event which will likely take place in our gym in January 2010!
Lou recently won the Grand Prize of the Dixon Drums “Drum your way to Hollywood” Contest, and will be attempting the record to support Save the Music, a non-profit organization that works to get music and instruments back in the public schools.
Here are a few of the rules:
1. Lou will accrue 5 minutes of rest for each hour he drums.
2. He can rest no longer than 30 sec between songs.
3. All songs must be recognizable.
4. No song can be repeated in any 4 hour period of time.
In short, in each 24 hour period he will have 2 hours of accrued rest, to be used sleeping, eating and relieving himself. We will keep you all posted as the competition gets closer!
Check out this pic of Lou doing a little sound check in the gym last week.

Way awesome. This should be great to see! Can I bring him coffee and have him sip it through a straw? LOL.
can’t wait, it’s going to be amazing! I have never met anyone who is willing to take on such a feat. I am excited to be a part of it!
All I can think of right now is one word: INSANITY
