The Fuzz Factor

...Or reason number 999 why you need to take care of your body by foam rolling, stretching, and just plain moving!

Who’s Who:  Peter M.

You may have noticed Peter in the gym...he’s hard to miss.  He may be our tallest member...coming in at 6’7!  When Peter walked into our On-Ramp in January--we all wondered how he was going to fold up all those limbs to get into position to deadlift!  He’s shocked us all--and continues to have great form in a all of his movements from dead lifting to o-lifting!

Abundance of Seasonal veggies???

Clearly--we are encouraging the consumption of vegetables! We’re also pretty excited when you purchase those veggies locally.  However, the pro and con of eating seasonally is that you may end up with an abundance of one vegetable!  You know how it goes....at the beginning of the season you can’t wait to dig into the first crop of tomatoes...and all of the sudden you are up to your ears in juicy red goodness.

No time for the Market?  Seasonal produce is still at your fingertips!

We are fortunate to live in Chico where there is an abundance of Farmers Markets. This creates the perfect opportunity to eat seasonally and support the local farmers. Check out Natalie’s post on Monday, to find all the Farmer’s markets around town.

Who’s Who:  Carlos M.

When Carlos is not at the gym he is doing big things, saving lives, putting out fires for Chico Fire.
Carlos or “Big Los” is one of NorCal’s stud athletes and has continued to progress since joining our gym just over a year ago.  He is also a pleasure to have in any class and a positive person all the way around.  Two more things folks might not know about “Los” ....he thinks “St. Patricks Day” is the best holiday ever and he loves “house music.”

Staying Fit while on the Road

Guest Contributor:  Joye Glassett
Being on the road can be a major obstacle to maintaining your daily routine.  Not only does it affect your food decisions, but it also has a huge impact on working out.  I know there are many clients in our gym that have jobs that require a lot of traveling, or for some of us (Vaughn!) wink we just love to travel!

Farmers Market Galore

I was driving past Butte College this weekend and noticed tents set up and what looked like fresh produce, so I decided to pull in and take a quick peek at what was going on!  I’m a sucker for fresh veggies wink

What to do and where to go this summer!!!

Hey Ya’ll, I wanted to put it out to the masses to get some ideas on where to go and what to do in the summer. I have heard a ton of talk in the gym lately about where people go camping, hiking, rock climbing, laying out, kayaking, and vacationing. Our gym is such a fantastic resource since most of us are outdoorsy kind of folk...I thought that we could help each other out with some summer time suggestions.

Pork Pick Up= Dinner tonight!

I had no idea when I showed up on Sunday to help my mom box up the processed pork, that I would end up getting a workout as well!

Soda…Are you STILL drinking it??

I have watched so many people come through the gym who are completely hooked/addicted to soda. After all of the diet changes that we implement I feel soda is one of the last things that people actually ditch.
