She did WHAT?!

Y’all know her…Angela, CrossFit NorCal trainer extraordinaire…our “little runner girl”. The girl that’s always busting Bob’s chops for spotty attendance to the 6am class…THAT Angela. Well, like her namesake might imply, this lil’runner girl likes to get out and tear up the miles. This last weekend she did just that but it was not miles, it was kilometers and not some piddly little 5 or 10 K run mind you! Oh no, Angela traversed over 5K just in ELEVATION CHANGE. You know…run up, run down. Angela competed in the grueling 50K (Fifty Kilometers, or 31 miles for our math phobic folks out there) Sequoia Trail Run and she kicked serious fanny! She completed her trek in a gazelle-like 6hrs, 53 minutes and was back at the gym training after just a few days off!! Wooo Ho!

Seana: One Year Anniversary!

It is a call for congratulations!  Seana Velasco just celebrated her one year anniversary at CrossFit NorCal.  In just one year of working with me, Seana has dropped 38 pounds, and 3 pants sizes!  She’s not just dropping weight—she’s lifting it too—she has a max deadlift of 155# and can whip out 7 pull-ups in a row.  Seana is one of our most successful clients—and I attribute that to her consistent attendance and quality food choices.  Check out Seana’s rope climb— she’ll be waiting for you at the top!

The move has begun!

The move to our new location (bigger and better) has begun! We moved some of the mats tonight and our pullup structure is getting moved tomorrow.  All classes will be held as scheduled in our current location through July 31st.  It may be a bit chaotic, but the workouts will go on! (Safe to bet there won’t be pullups for a few days!) Thanks to the folks in the 5:15 crew tonight who helped move some mats!  I think Lee’s truck was a bit more helpful than Shawn’s biceps!

Hardcore mama’s

I was talking with a few of the mom’s in our 6am class this morning about the physical demands of being a mom...climbing stairs carrying a child on one hip and a bag of groceries on the other.  Life just demands that we’re capable and strong.  I guess in our modern age folks can get by being a little less capable, but pretty soon it will catch up with you.  One of the top benefits of being a CrossFitter is that it prepares you for anything and everything.  A fitter individual is more productive and can better navigate the physical demands and pressures of life.  Check out Sarah, mother of three boys, kicking some ass with some dumbbell swings!  She’s 8 months post baby and is leaner and stronger now than before her pregnancy.  Oh yeah...did I mention she did 36 pullups in her workout the other day?

CrossFit Nutrition seminar in S.F!

The great folks at San Francisco CrossFit are hosting us next weekend for a CrossFit nutrition certification with our very own Robb Wolf!  They held an essay contest for each of the 2 scholarship positions.  There were some fabulous entries and it was tough to choose!  Check out this pic from the dry run we did here in Chico as well as one of the wonderful essay submissions we received:

CrossFit Games here we come!

What seemed like months away is now literally around the corner.  Like 4 days from now! Yikes!  John Fragoso and I will be the two contestants representing CF NorCal.  We’ve been training hard and will be as ready as we can be for whatever comes on Saturday and Sunday.  The actual events will be posted tomorrow evening here.  There are some amazing competitors and it is sure to be a lot of crazy fun!  Here’s John in action....working the beloved double unders!
