It’s Your Business

One thing we pride ourselves on at Norcal Strength and Conditioning is our sense of community.  We support one another day in and day out in the gym, we get to know about each other’s lives outside of the gym and we genuinely connect and feel like a family (even with the occasional family squabble…that’s how you know it’s legit, right!?!?) With that said, there are so...

Balanced Body is back!

Hey folks! Balanced body is back! I wanted to take a few minutes to talk about what we have on the menu. The class will follow 6 week cycles, and focus on two gymnastics skills each cycle. What, only two, you ask? Well gymnastics is hard, and anyone who has ever attempted to hold them selves up on the rings, or tried to kick up into a handstand, or even maxed out on an L-sit would absolutely...

Who’s Who: Katie “the shiny” Phillips

Oh that Katie. You may recognize her as the girl in the big truck who looks like she wishes it was a blue Maserati. Oh, that’s because she does.  But don’t be fooled by this girl’s ‘shininess.’  She can stain a deck, shoot a gun and overhead squat better than most people. She’ll also lead you 3 miles, aimlessly, in the wrong direction, amonst the hilliest...

Who’s Who: Jeff Fitzer

I had the pleasure of coaching Jeff in his On Ramp class last year and have enjoyed having him in the gym ever since!  He is a great athlete with a crazy vertical jump.  Jeff is also the only person that can come to a class at NorCal and successfully not say a single word……to anyone  He has shown HUGE support at every NorCal event since joining.  Whether it is at book signing or...

Resolving Goal Conflict

Do you have conflicting goals? I’m pretty sure I could write a novel about conflicting fitness goals and the equally conflicted methods people go about trying to attain them. Not surprisingly, this will keep you pushing the rock up the hill in Hades until you identify these conflicts and uncross the streams. It doesn’t help that there is a lot of bogus information floating around out...

Who’s who: Kristina R.

How were you introduced to NorCal Strength and Conditioning? My hubby Chris introduced to me to NorCal, he had been trying to get me to join for a year. He thought it would be fun to workout together and thought I’d really like NorCal because it’s so different from other gyms. I was also very happy with the idea to be able to take private lessons rather than the on-ramp group...

The Bidwell LOC is the first obstacle challenge run being held in Chico’s very own Bidwell Park.  NorCal’s own Jerrad Fisher is putting the event on.  The event follows the 5k course, but includes obstacles such as hay bales, tires, tunnels, climbing walls, and swimming through Sycamore Pool (1 Mile Pool), rather than crossing the bridge. Not only do you get to climb stuff, but a...
