Cassie The Evil Genius

Now I don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea like I consume tons of sugar every day but I do like to have it in the form of dried fruit, chocolate, ice cream, and a few other tasty items when the time is right. When Cassie told me she was doing this I decided that I needed a challenge too. One that everyone would know about, one that would be good for my stress levels, and one that would have nothing but positive results in the end.

What am I hoping to accomplish you say…. Well I want to proud of myself, I want to get on track before those crazy foodie holidays come around, and I want to see some composition changes take place. I want the elusive six pack that our everydaypaleo guru wears so well!

So this is me, telling all of you to make me be accountable! I will be journaling (somewhat) my feelings, experiences, and cravings, and fights.  I will have things to battle like my birthday, which I will not be indulging, a wedding, and the weather which means a nice cup of hot cocoa no more!

Journal- Day 3-

I have been super busy so it hasn’t been bad at this point. I had a small craving last night but didn’t even give into grapes. Ate 3 meals yesterday and stayed pretty full so that was good. Didn’t drink enough water and I need to be more on top of it because that will help in getting rid of waste as well! Did some research on cellulite today, it’s a nasty business. It affects almost 100% of women due to the levels of our estrogen which just plain sucks. I am not willing to go down without a fight though, I will triumph! Cellulite is waste. Fat deposits under the skin over the muscles that hardens and gives a lumpy appearance to our skin.  So I posted a pic of my most inspirational woman, as far as body comp goes because I have some similarities. Most of you do not know that I have a Spanish background, my dad is as dark as all get out. Anyway I have the short , hippy, thick leg, big shoulder thing going on. And yes I dye my hair otherwise it is dark brown. The only thing I didn’t get was the boobs and tan, damn it! Oh well I can get the boobs someday if I see fit … and fake a tan too. Anyway like I was saying, I see her body as ideal, not crazy ripped out, but womanly and curvey. Ok that’s it for today. Anyone want to join me?

Karina’s love for athletics started early. She’s been playing sports, including volleyball, softball, track, soccer, and basketball for nearly her entire life. She played competitively through high school and her enthusiasm for sports continued into her college years. In 1999, Karina graduated from New Life Institute of Massage Therapy and she began working as a sports therapist at Shasta College Athletic Training Center. Karina specifically worked with football and baseball athletes. Over the course of three seasons she put her therapy skills to work; treating injuries, taping athletes, and providing soft tissue work to help prevent injury and maintain mobility. That experience as a body worker has immensely helped Karina’s eye for coaching. Her approach to movement is influenced by her knowledge of soft tissue maintenance--and this allows her to modify movements and provide specific attention to areas in which clients may need additional trigger point therapy and foam rolling. Karina continues to use her therapy skills when she occassional covers Tory Zellick, owner of In Touch Bodyworks. Karina came to NorCal Strength and Conditioning as a client in hopes of ‘mixin’ up’ her regular six day a week, two hours a day gym routine. She discovered an amazing collection of coaches who viewed health, stress-free living, and happiness in the highest regard. Karina’s success as a client at NorCal, as well as her expereince as a body worker brought the realization that she could give back to others all that she had learned. Karina obtained her CrossFit Level 1 certification in 2009. She has also attended the Black Box Summit with Coach Rutherford, as well as the Paleolithic Solution Seminar with Robb Wolf. Karina currently coaches Low Intensity Functional Training, Elements, and Level 1 classes. She enjoys the variety of clients that attend her classes--and recognizes her improvement in coaching comes from the depth of client she has the opportunity with which to work. Karina has the proud honor of personally coaching the 2010 Paleo Challenge winner . Training just 2 days a week and eating paleo brought success to Mary Elaine.   2. Great, now I’m going to be held accountable too! Well, I could use the motivation. I cheated this weekend while camping and ate a FEW toasted marshmallows. Sooooo, I’m on day 10, minus a few hiccups. I’m hoping to gain some self control in the process to help make things a little easier.

Beth – faleo!  That is too funny!  Hmmmmm Karina – GREAT post as always – full of realness (if that’s a word) – authenticity (maybe a better word), frankness.  So no sugar… Let me check in with a friend – a support friend who might want to go in on a challenge with me and give each other accountability and support and see what we want to pick – sugar is a good one (fruit, dried fruit…) Does alcohol count as sugar – don’t laugh I’m serious – tequila count?  When are we starting Monday?  Not NOW?!?!?!?!?!

    Nice Blog Lil’ Sis…but to be perfectly honest, before I commit to this no-sugar business, I’m waiting for a response to Deanna’s question…does alcohol count as sugar?  If so, can exceptions be made for my dear old friend Jack Daniels?  grin
