6 Minute Meal

We all have those days that we just don’t want to cook anything, we don’t want to leave the house to go out, and we don’t want to go spend money eating out (not to mention risk getting a wheat dose).  This is a very tasty, easy, fast meal that is perfect for situations like this.  I actually timed myself from start to finish and it took 6 minutes total from starting the oil to setting it on the table.

Ahi Tuna Steaks with green salad

– Ahi Tuna Steaks (we used Trader Joes Marinated Ahi Tuna Steaks)

– 1 tsp Olive Oil

*Heat oil (coconut or olive) in pan on medium to medium high heat

*Take thawed steaks out of the packaged and sear for 1.5 minutes or so on each side (more or less depending on how rare/cooked you want it

Serve with veggies of choice.  We had a simple green salad:

-Greens of choice

-Sliced Carrots

-Diced Tomatoes

-Sliced Mushrooms

-Diced Avocado

-Slivered Almonds

Combine all ingredients and top with olive oil and balsamic vinegar

    Hey All,

The Sac-Town Throwdown team challenge is scheduled for Saturday February 12.  Last year’s event was amazing, but this years is going to be epic.  I don’t want to mention any specifics at this point, but there are some truly great sponsorships in the works and we are going to have some really amazing resources.  This event should be highly interesting for athletes and spectators alike.  Lets just say you might be asked to do some things you haven’t done before.

There will be scaled and Rx divisions, and teams will consist of 2 men and 2 women.  I plan to have the registration site active by noon this Friday.  Start getting your team together and be ready to sign up before the event sells out, spectators included!  We will also be needing about 30 volunteers, so if you want to come and help run the show we would love to have you.

Check out http://www.sactownthrowdown.com for updates and info.

Hmmm lets see, if Jenny takes 6 minutes then us mortals will take about an hour.  I’ll wager that I could eat that in less than 6 minutes though.

I have a recipe for a fast all cooked meal.  Pacific cod from costco with aspargus and mushrooms.  Season the cod with old bay (no salt please) and place on dish with aspargus and sliced mushrooms.  Microwave for 3 minutes on high and then eat. All paleo all the time leds to all the fun in time.

This TJ marinated Ahi is delish! We also like to use it for cabbabe wrap/paleo fish tacos;)

Hey, just a heads up…Costco often gets sashimi grade ahi in as well and it’s $4-$5 less per pound than Trader Joes and you can get larger portions (of course).
